The road under bridge near Nizamuddin-Sarai Kalan Khan Railway station is one of the projects belonging to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Work on the project began in February 2007 and on Friday, the MCD sent out invitations for the inauguration but did not invite local MLA Marwah.

"On Saturday morning, Marwah along with Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit organised an inauguration ceremony-a ribbon cutting ceremony-of their own," said Farhad Suri. He added that it is up to the MCD to decide whether or not they should invite the local MLA for their projects.

The new road under bridge will improve connectivity between Jungpura/Bhogal and Nangli. Earlier, people from Nangli did not have a direct road to Jungpura and some would risk crossing the railway tracks leading to about 35 incidents of rail accidents a year.

The two sides have clashed once before when the foundation stone for a railway underbridge was being laid at Siddarth Nagar.

At that time, Marwah had said that such projects are funded by the Delhi government and so government representatives should be given due importance. However, after today's incident, Marwah remained unreachable for comments even after repeated attempts.
