Delhi Police have arrested a gang of cheats who would lure people, through advertisements, to take home fat pay packets by installing mobile phone towers of leading discoms.

"When people would call on the given mobile phone numbers, they would be offered R5 lakh as advance and R25, 000 per month as rent," said IB Rani, DCP (east).
Police have arrested Amit Kumar, Ravi Shekhar and Jainender Singh in the case. They used to allegedly lure people by publishing advertisements in far-flung areas of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Bihar, wherein they give would give out mobile phone numbers as their contact.
Once people contacted them they would be asked to furnish documents of the location of their property or plot where the tower is to be installed and claim that they would secretly verify the property and contact them. Thereafter, in all the cases, they would confirm to the victims that they have verified their properties and are issuing a Green Card (Smart Card with 16 digit numbers and logos of 10 leading mobile companies).
“Thereafter, the accused would send Green Cards of fake companies through speed post, along with the agreement letter. The agreement was wel- drafted, through which, they would demand R5,000 as activation charges for the green card and further R15,000 as service tax," added Rani.
The accused would then make a few false promises to victims. Later, they would escape with the money and change their phone numbers.
