This means, henceforth, while booking a park or a community hall under MCD, you can now get an online confirmation within a day. Delhiites can also obtain health trade license, general trade license and factory license in a maximum of 60 days under the Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services) Act 2011.

The civic body, which had started issuing birth and death certificates in July 2010, will now take a maximum of seven days under the e-SLA to do the same.

Commissioner KS Mehra explained that the e-SLA would be effective only when the citizen’s application was complete in all respects."All the requisite information in respect of each service can be had from the MCD’s website and the citizens’ service bureaus in zonal offices," he said.

Mehra also warned there would be punitive action against the employees failing to deliver the services on time. When compared with a similar announcement made by the Delhi government, mayor Rajni Abbi said, "It is nothing like political one-upmanship. Everybody has to start, we are doing it too."
