Overlays for broadcasting etc have already started in some stadiums like Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. The remaining, huge task of overlays, the main work at the venues, will start after the mapping and scheming of the venues.

The teams have people from overlays, catering, competition, medical/doping control units, communications, etc so that the venues can be judged by the parameters of various functional areas.

“The teams are preparing the status reports. We have to start operations by August 30,” said a senior official.

The venue takeover was delayed due to late completion of construction works but things picked up this year. The OC, however, assures that things are on time and the necessary “venue-isation” process for the various teams including protocol etc has started at venues like Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium much before the actual moving-in took place.
