People hope Modi will resolve perennial water woes

The Narendra Modi frenzy engulfed Dwarka’s sector 14 rally ground on Sunday as over 20,000 Modi fans sat waiting to hear him speak. The rally was organised to lend more energy to the campaign drive of the BJP and boost the morale of the party workers.

The biggest problem of Dwarka and nearby areas is scarcity of water and those present at the rally want it to be resolved by the new government. “He (Modi) has already solved half the problem by asking Haryana to release the waters. I am confident if BJP is voted to power, Modi ji will ensure steadfast development here,” said wing commander Manohar Vasudev, 57, resident of Metro view Apartments, Matiala constituency.

“With Modi at the centre, BJP government in Delhi and Haryana government working in tandem it is a win-win situation for at least this constituency,” he added.

As Modi mania gripped Dwarka, hundreds of people could be seen standing on rooftops to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Controlling the crowds proved a difficult task for the police. MP Pravesh Verma, added fuel to the fire, by encouraging them to break through the barriers to occupy the VIP/media area. Verma had to soon rescind his words as the mobs overran the area and multiple altercations broke out between BJP workers, police and BJP supporters.

The arrival of Modi, however, brought order to the rally. BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi had to stop her speech as crowds were chanting Modi’s name and at one point, she appeared upset.

Most women appeared impressed with the spotless career of Bedi and said she is competent in dealing with women’s security issues.
