Remove dangerous trees: police to civic bodies

At Sunder Nagar alone, the police have identified four trees that can be dangerous to commuters. “In the past two years, nearly a dozen accidents have taken place at the same spot,” a senior police officer said.

At the Sunder Nagar traffic crossing, few trees have grown partially on the road and the portion of their trunks on the road is not visible in night. “The only way out is to remove these dangerous trees,” he added.

Poor lighting on the stretch is another matter of concern. Traffic Police have also decided to be stringent in implementing road safety rules. The first step would be to identify accident-prone areas on Delhi roads. They will then set up spring posts, lightening columns, cat eyes and rumble strips on those roads, which will help drivers avoid ramming into flyover edges, construction sites and road dividers.
