Till Tuesday, the investigators were probing the case from a property angle and personal enmity and had questioned several people close to the victims.

However, investigation took a new turn on Wednesday when the police picked up over a dozen burglars active in Rohini and its adjoining areas.

The detained burglars were being interrogated to ascertain their location and activities on the night of September 20, when the triple murder took place in Sector 17, Rohini.

Investigation also revealed that 23-year-old journalism graduate Karishma Chauhan alias Rozy was in a relationship for the last few months.

The police have questioned Rozy's 'companion' but ruled out his involvement in the murders. They refused to reveal his identity.

"We are investigating the case from all possible angles. Our probe is now focused on the involvement of burglars. We are exploring this angle as nothing concrete came out from our earlier investigation," said a senior investigating officer.

Asked if the autopsy report of Rozy confirmed sexual assault before her murder, the senior officer said divulging information would hamper their investigation.

"Our aim is to identify the killers and ascertain the motive behind the murder. We are leaving no stone unturned to crack the case," the officer added.

On the night of September 20, Rozy and her mother Rekha Chauhan (52), were found strangled to death in their bedroom, while her father Yogendra Pratap Singh Chauhan (52), was found in a pool of blood on the ground floor of their two-storey house.

Chauhan, who was into chemical business, was hit with a blunt object and died of excessive bleeding.

An injury mark on Rozy's forehead suggested that she was also hit with a blunt object before being strangled. Rekha was strangled with the cable of an electric iron.
