If you want to construct a house, you or your architect will no longer need to make unending rounds of MCD offices to get the building plan sanctioned.

To cut red tape and corruption, all zonal offices of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi have started receiving building plan applications through its website www.mcdonline.gov.in from Monday. The MCD, which has 12 zones, began receiving building plans online in its south zone last year.

There were instances of plans having been sanctioned in a day instead of months taken earlier — that too after you paid a hefty bribe. “There will be no human intervention and this will help curb corruption and red tapism,” a senior MCD official said. “Officials sitting on a file beyond the prescribed period will have to explain delays.”

The online system was restricted to fresh constructions but now it will be applicable to additions to existing houses and buildings.

“All the registered architects have been provided with a unique login ID which they will use to upload the required documents,” the official said.
