Though the incident was reported on Wednesday, police registered a case on Saturday after the bank officials lodged a written complaint.

Police said they have identified the two men in the age group of 20-22 years and were trying to arrest them.

The two men tried to withdraw money from an ATM card one of them had. “When they could not withdraw money, they decided to rob the ATM. They got a big stone and first damaged the CCTV camera, which however continued to record. They then got a bigger stone and damaged the ATM screen. They struggled for 10 minutes and left,” said a police officer.

Police said the security guard was not present at the ATM centre at the time of the incident.
