The additional sessions court, however, acquitted the duo of the charges of murder as the police failed to recover the body of the 75-year-old who has been missing since May 18, 2006.
Additional sessions judge Rajeev Bansal awarded the jail term to Niti Sarin and her friend Gulfam Ahmed, both residents of East of Kailash, for fabricating the Power of Attorney issued by Niti's father SS Marwah and then selling the property off in bits and pieces. The court also slapped a fine of Rs. 35,000 on the duo.
The police said Gulfam had got Marwah's East of Kailash residence demolished and after fresh construction, sold it floor-wise before destroying the forged Power of Attorney.
"It is an unfortunate case in which Marwah's daughter (Niti) conspired with co-convict Gulfam to fabricate the Power of Attorney issued in her name and usurp the property left to her by her father. The convict is an educated lady and she is the only child Marwah," the judge said.
