All they have is the revelation made by the seer, who is deeply revered in the region, and GSI’s confirmation of metal underground. Ask any ASI expert on the ground if he was sure the gold, he flatly refuses to answer.

But the officials in Unnao district administration, who have interacted with the experts, privately say a detailed study would have been better. All that the ASI got was two weeks to prepare and apparently a hand-drawn map from the seer’s disciple Swami Om of the places with possibility of hidden gold.

Authorities do wonder why latest technologies that are now available to ascertain the rocks at least 1000 metres underground are not being used.

“What is happening is based on the words of a seer. We are not disputing his authencity or divinity but ASI should have been allowed to move in better prepared,” they said.
