Vijay Goel, a senior BJP leader from Delhi, has been appointed as General Secretary of the party.

Vijay Goel, a senior BJP leader from Delhi, was on Friday night appointed as General Secretary of the party.

His elevation as General Secretary fills up the post which was lying vacant after Om Mathur was appointed President of the Rajasthan unit of the party.

Goel's appointment is significant as there were reports that he was peeved at the party's decision to retain Harsh Vardhan as president of the Delhi unit.

Goel had even expressed his willingness to resign from the post of secretary after Harsh Vardhan's reappointment but relented after party chief Rajnath Singh's intervention.
