Woman jumps from Azadpur metro station

A 22-year-old woman attempted suicide by jumping off an elevated metro station in north Delhi on Friday evening, police said.

A 22-year-old woman attempted suicide by jumping off an elevated metro station in north Delhi on Friday evening, police said.

Identified as Geetu, a resident of the Mukundpur area, the victim jumped from the Azadpur Metro Station around 4.30 pm.

"She sustained multiple fractures and was rushed to the Sushruta Trauma Centre where she is critical," said a senior police officer.

Police said initial investigations had revealed that the victim was employed at a private firm in Karol Bagh.

"We have registered a case though the actual reason behind her taking the drastic step has not been ascertained," the officer said, adding that no suicide note was recovered from her.
