25 Karnataka state universities to use CUET for UG admission: UGC Chairman
Kumar held a meeting with Vice-Chancellors of Karnataka state universities, following which he said the universities have agreed to use the CUET exam for admitting students to BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes.
Twenty five state-run universities in Karnataka will use the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for undergraduate admissions, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagdesh Kumar said on Monday.

Kumar held a meeting with Vice-Chancellors of Karnataka state universities, following which he said the universities have agreed to use the CUET exam for admitting students to BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes.
“Today I had a meeting with Vice-Chancellors of 25 State Universities from Karnataka to discuss about Common University Entrance Test (CUET). The VCs have supported the introduction of CUET and have agreed to use CUET for admissions in BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes,” Kumar tweeted.
Announcing details of CUET, Kumar had last month said for central universities across the country, it is mandatory to use the test for undergraduate admissions, while private, state run and deemed universities can opt for the exam if they wish to.
“All higher educational institutions, irrespective of whether they are state universities, private universities, or deemed to be universities, all of them can use the CUET scores for admission in UG and PG programmes. However, it may be noted that admission in UG programmes in all central universities funded by the UGC will be solely on CUET scores,” the UGC Chairman had said.
Registration for CUET 2022 will begin on April 6 at cuet.samarth.ac.in. The last date to apply is May 6 (11:50 pm).
