Description:Vijay Kumar Sinha, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), became deputy chief minister of Bihar in 2024. He is a four-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Lakhisarai constituency. Vijay Kumar Sinha's political journey began in 2005 when he won his first assembly election, though he was defeated in the subsequent re-election that same year. He has since held the Lakhisarai seat continuously since 2010. Vijay Kumar Sinha has held several significant roles in the state's political landscape. He served as the minister for labour resources in the Nitish Kumar government from 2017 to 2020. He was then elected as the speaker of the Bihar assembly in 2020, a position he held until his resignation in 2022. He also served as the Leader of the Opposition before being appointed deputy CM in January 2024.
Beyond his legislative roles, Vijay Sinha has a strong background in organisational politics, having been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and the state general secretary of the BJP Kisan Morcha. He is a dedicated member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent body of the BJP.
