Description:Former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi founded the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) or HAM(S) on May 8, 2015, with his supporters after leaving the JDU. Its main stated objective is to protect social justice, the rights of Dalits, backward and underprivileged classes. The election symbol of the party is 'kadahi' or frying pan. Santosh Kumar Suman is the president, while Jitan Ram Manjhi is designated as patron. The party contested 21 seats in the 2015 assembly election in alliance with the NDA, but with limited success. In the 2020 Bihar assembly election, the party was again a part of the NDA and managed to win four seats. In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Jitan Ram Manjhi won the Gaya seat as an NDA candidate. Manjhi defeated the RJD candidate by more than 1 lakh votes, strengthening the political relevance of the party. The main base of the party is Dalits, Mahadalits and other backward classes. It has continuously increased its vote share and influence while being in the NDA.
