Description:Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) is an emerging political formation in Bihar, founded on November 4, 2018, by Mukesh Sahani. He comes from the Nishad (boatman) community and has aimed at the economic, social and political upliftment of mainly fishermen, boatmen and 20 sub-castes of Nishad community. The party was formed in the presence of about 5 lakh supporters at a Nishad Reservation Mega Rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. VIP has given prominence to issues like social justice and security in Bihar politics. The party initially contested the elections with the RJD-led Grand Alliance, but later joined the NDA due to a seat-sharing dispute with the RJD. In the 2020 Bihar assembly elections, VIP got 11 seats to contest as part of NDA, of which it won four. Mukesh Sahani himself lost the election. He was later elected to the Upper House, the Bihar Legislative Council. Mukesh Sahani's political journey began after struggling with poverty and achieving success as a set designer in Mumbai.
