Ponda is the assembly constituency which comes under the North Goa district. It is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Goa Assembly Election 2022 for Ponda was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Goa Assembly Election 2017, there were 30,568 registered voters for Ponda assembly seat, out of which 15,720 were male and 14,848 were female voters. 0.8% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 5 candidates were contesting for Ponda assembly constituency seat. Ponda was one of 17 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Ravi Sitaram Naik won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Sunil Desai by a margin of 3,010 votes.
82.6% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Indian National Congress's Ravi Sitaram Naik got a total of 9,502 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Sunil Desai secured 6,492 votes. Independent candidate Rajesh Verekar grabbed the third spot with 4,529 votes. The top three parties got 38.3%, 26.1% and 18.2% respectively.
In Goa Assembly election 2012, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak's Lavoo Mamledar outperformed Indian National Congress's Ravi Naik by 3,190 votes.
