Porvorim is the assembly constituency which comes under the North Goa district. It is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Goa Assembly Election 2022 for Porvorim was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.
In Goa Assembly Election 2017, there were 24,346 registered voters for Porvorim assembly seat, out of which 12,002 were male and 12,344 were female voters. 0.7% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Election, there were 6 candidates in the fray from Porvorim constituency. Porvorim was one of 3 seats won by the independent candidates. It was a one way contest with independent candidate Rohan Khaunte comfortably winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Guruprasad R. Pawaskar by a huge margin of 4,213 votes.
93.1% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Independent candidate Rohan Khaunte got a total of 11,174 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Guruprasad R. Pawaskar got 6,961 votes. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Rajesh Valvaikar grabbed 846 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 57.4%, 35.7% and 4.3% respectively.
In Goa Assembly election 2012, Independent candidate Rohan Khaunte beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Govind Parvatkar by 901 votes.
