Goa Election: Sanguem Assembly Constituency 2022

Sanguem is the assembly constituency which comes under the South Goa district. It is one of the 40 Goa Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Goa Assembly Election 2022 for Sanguem was held on February 14 and the result was declared on March 10.

In Goa Assembly Election 2017, there were 25,769 registered voters for Sanguem assembly seat, out of which 12,500 were male and 13,269 were female voters. 0.8% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In 2017, 8 candidates were contesting for Sanguem assembly constituency seat. Sanguem was one of 3 seats won by the independent candidates. It was a close contest with independent candidate Prasad S. Gaonkar winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Subhash Phal Dessai by a margin of just 937 votes.

89.3% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Independent candidate Prasad S. Gaonkar grabbed a total of 7,636 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Subhash Phal Dessai got 6,699 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Savitri Kavlekar bagged 5,736 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 34.0%, 29.8% and 25.5% respectively.

In Goa Assembly election 2012, Bharatiya Janata Party's Subhash U. Phal Dessai defeated Nationalist Congress Party's Alemao Yuri by 483 votes.
