Hangal is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Haveri district. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Hangal will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In 2018, the Hangal assembly seat had 1,90,669 registered voters, 1,00,172 were male and 90,496 were female voters. 0.4% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Hangal constituency had 11 candidates for assembly seat contention. Hangal was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's C M Udasi winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Mane Srinivas by a margin of just 6,514 votes.
The top two candidates split 94.7% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's C M Udasi got a total of 80,529 votes, while Indian National Congress's Mane Srinivas secured 74,015 votes. Independent candidate Chandrappa Jalagar secured 4,263 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 49.3%, 45.3% and 2.6% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Manohar H. Tahashildar outperformed Karnataka Jantha Paksha's Udasi C.M by 5,686 votes.
