Amethi is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Sultanpur district. People of Amethi voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
In 2017, the Amethi assembly seat had 3,34,542 registered voters. Of the, 1,77,358 were male and 1,57,184 were female voters. 0.2% of votes were casted for NOTA.
In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 24 candidates in the fray from Amethi constituency. Amethi was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Garima Singh winning the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Gaytri Prasad by a margin of just 5,065 votes.
82.1% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Garima Singh grabbed a total of 64,226 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Gaytri Prasad got 59,161 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Ram Ji bagged 30,175 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 34.3%, 31.6% and 16.1% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Gayatri Prasad defeated Indian National Congress's Ameeta Sinh by 8,760 votes.
