In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 13 candidates in the fray from Baghpat constituency. Baghpat was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Yogesh Dhama won the election upstaging Bahujan Samaj Party's Ahmed Hameed by a margin of 31,360 votes.
The top three candidates split 88.8% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Yogesh Dhama got a total of 92,566 votes, while Bahujan Samaj Party's Ahmed Hameed secured 61,206 votes. Rashtriya Lok Dal's candidate Kartar Singh Bhadana grabbed the third spot with 21,751 votes. The top three parties got 46.8%, 31.0% and 11.0% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Bahujan Samaj Party's Hemlata Chaudhary beat Rashtriya Lok Dal's Kawkab Hameed Khan by 7,663 votes.
