Multi-layer security in place for counting of votes in Prayagraj

Four-layered security arrangements will be in place in and around Mundera Mandi, where the counting of votes for 12 assembly constituencies of Prayagraj will be carried out on Thursday. SSP Ajay Kumar said the security inside the counting hall will be manned by CISF and CRPF personnel, where no outsider will be allowed. Police and PAC personnel will be deployed around Mundera Mandi as the second layer of security. The third security layer will be at the 100m distance led by an SP rank officer, while the fourth layer of security has been made at the 200m distance and will comprise local police personnel.

SSP said that candidates have been told that no victory procession will be allowed. An eye is being kept on social media platforms, and if anyone is found spreading rumours that may result in any controversy or tension strict action would be taken. Security arrangements have been made at other places in the city, and police will be deployed on rooftops also. A team of cops are monitoring Mundera Mandi and surrounding areas through CCTV cameras. Five companies of paramilitary, three companies of PAC, 1500 police personnel have been deployed for security duty.
Drone cameras have also been roped in to keep an eye on the place, where the counting of votes will be carried out in the Kaushambi district. District Election Officer Sujeet Kumar said drone cameras would start monitoring the area since morning on March 10. SP Kaushambi Hemraj Meena said besides the vote-counting place, security arrangements have also been made at sensitive places in the district. Three companies of paramilitary have been deployed, and three-layered security arrangements have been made, he added.
A similar security arrangement has been made at Mahuli Mandi in Pratapgarh where counting of votes will be carried out. SP Pratapgarh Satpal Antil said strict security arrangements have been made at Mahuli Mandi and other sensitive areas.
It is worth mentioning that there have been incidents of clashes between supporters of Raja Bhaiyya and SP candidate from Kunda assembly constituency Gulshan Yadav. Police are keeping a strict watch on their supporters to avert any further untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, traffic diversions have also been made for the routes towards Mundera Mandi in Prayagraj. No vehicles will be allowed towards Mundera from 4 am onwards on Thursday. Buses, small vehicles, tankers etc will be diverted to other routes, said AK Dixit, SP traffic.
