Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled city-based artist Naresh Kumawat’s sculpted bust of Deen Dayal Upadhyay at a function in New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan on Sunday
Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled city-based artist Naresh Kumawat’s sculpted bust of Deen Dayal Upadhyay at a function in New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan on Sunday.

“Paying tributes to Deendayal Ji, whose thoughts & ideals of serving the farmers, poor & the marginalised continue to guide us,” the Prime Minister tweeted, using a photo of Kumawat’s work in the background.
The structure is moulded by glass fibre and has a copper coating to prevent it from rust. It measures over four feet, with the bust itself measuring 22 inches in length and weighing over 50kg.
Kumawat said that the structure was built in 35 days at his art centre in Manesar.
“This day will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have dedicated 35 days to build this bust, keeping aside nearly seven hours daily for its creation,” the 38-year-old artist said.
Kumawat did not take a fee for his creation and claims he has donated it as a work of charity. He said that he has expressed his desire to the Prime Minister to unveil a statue sculpted by him during Haryana Day celebrations on November 1 in Gurgaon, where the PM is scheduled to be the chief guest.
Originally from Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, Naresh and his family have settled in Gurgaon since the last sixteen years.
Naresh’s family is renowned for its works. His father, Matturam, designed and created the famous Shiv Murthi at Mangal Mahadeva Birla Kanan located just off NH-8 in Rangpuri. Naresh’s grandfather, Hanuman Prasad, also built sculptures at Sikar in Rajashtan.
