61-year-old man slits wife’s throat over domestic quarrel in Gurugram

According to police, one of the victim’s sons rushed to the couple’s room upon hearing his mother’s cries and saw his father flee the spot.

A 61-year-old man is alleged to have slit his wife’s throat with a sickle over a domestic quarrel in Gairatpur Bas village of Badshahpur in the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Lal Kaur, 60.

According to the police, the incident took place around 3.30 am at the couple’s house. The accused has been identified as Ram Mehar.

The victim suffered a deep gash to the neck and was rushed to the Civil Hospital.

The investigating officer, ASI Charan Singh, said the doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead. “Prima facie, marital discord seems to be the reason for the crime. According to statements recorded, the couple used to have frequent altercations,” Singh said.

Police said that the accused is on the run.

A case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC has been registered at Badshahpur police station.

The victim is survived by three children — two sons and a daughter, who is married.
