Comedian-actor Russell Brand on his ex-wife and acting with Tom Cruise in Rock Of Ages

Russell Brand made headlines in India when his much-publicised wedding with singer Katy Perry took place in Jaipur. Roughly 14 months later, news of them parting ways flooded the Internet. But the actor has no regrets. “Sometimes when you’re in a relationship, I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it. Katy is a beautiful human being and we had a great time together,” says the stand-up comic. He also says that he has “a very strong connection with India and visiting it was a very rejuvenating experience."

Directed by Adam Shankman, Brand’s latest film Warner Bros’ Rock Of Ages, which is based on an ’80s musical, released on Friday. Top lining Tom Cruise, it features Brand in the role of Lonny Barnet. “Tom Cruise is like a charismatic hurricane smashing through your life. He’s a beautiful, genuine and kind man,” says Brand about his co-star. Meanwhile, if there’s anything that has kept Brand in the news of late more than his divorce, then it’s the kiss with Alec Baldwin in the film.

“The inside of his mouth is like a cave of wonder. It’s like going into where civilisation began. His teeth are like living monuments to God. I think if I was in a relationship with Alec, he’d be the one who would want to be in charge and that would annoy me,” he says, attempting to be funny. The film also stars Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta and Catherine Zeta.
