A magazine shared an image of the invite on social media, along with the caption: “On the day IU and Byeon Woo-seok are brought together by a precious bond, we invite you to share that special moment. The two, who once looked in different directions, now wish to face each other. In this warm spring, please join us in celebrating that special moment on April 2.”

The post left fans stunned, with many reacting in disbelief. While some congratulated the couple, others were quick to sense something was off (inset left), realising the news coincided with April 1, April Fool’s Day.

Notable, IU has been in a relationship with actor Lee Jong-suk since 31 December, 2022.

In a recent conversation with HTCity, IU had opened up about her schedule and future plans. “I feel like I’m busier than ever, but I’m enjoying life,” she shared. "I’m very happy and grateful for all the love and interest that people have shown for When Life Gives You Tangerines, Flower Bookmark, and the next project. I had no idea I was popular in India, but I did hear that my show When Life Gives You Tangerines received a lot of love in India,” she says. “I’ve been enjoying learning about India’s beautiful landscapes, watching Indian films filled with dance and music that bring joy to its audience, and reading books about the country.”

Reflecting on the success of her drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, IU recalled, “When I was first given the script, it was only for the first six episodes, but my heart raced as I read through it. From that moment, I was already someone who was wholeheartedly rooting for Ae-sun’s life more than anyone.”
