Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday took a dig at ‘Namo Again’ and ‘Chowkidaar’ T-shirts, being sold as a part of poll merchandise for the Lok Sabha election 2019.

“BJP leaders are busy marketing T-shirts, if only they could pay attention to those suffering,” tweeted the general secretary incharge of Uttar Pradesh East.

“The hard work of Uttar Pradesh’s ‘shiksha mitras’ is insulted every day. Scores of sufferers committed suicide. Those who took to the streets to protest were beaten with lathis, National Security Act was registered against them,” Priyanka tweeted highlighting the issue of UP’s Shikshamitras, or contractual teachers.

The BJP has been marketing the ‘NAMO AGAIN’ T-shirt on the NaMo App, a mobile application that takes its name from the first two letters of the PM’s name and surname. NaMo merchandise also has a Twitter handle that promotes the sale of such article, with tweets and re-tweets of those posting their picture with items purchased on the NaMo App.

The app started offering the merchandise from September, and has since rolled out several items such as coffee mugs, stickers and T-shirts.

Anurag Thakur, the BJP’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha, first made the NAMO AGAIN hoodie popular by wearing it to Parliament.

‘Main bhi Chowkidar’ T-shirts have also hit the stores, following the BJP campaign with the similar slogan being launched sometime back.
