Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, also an accused in the case, moved exemption through his counsel.
The court has asked the Delhi CM to appear on July 16. Babbar filed a defamation case against Kejriwal, Kumar, Atishi and Gupta for raising complaints that voters names had been “deliberately deleted” from voters’ lists by the BJP.
Babbar, who had moved the application on behalf of BJP’s Delhi unit, sought action against the AAP leaders for alleging that over 30 lakh names were deleted from the voters’ list in Delhi by the election commission at the behest of the BJP.
In his plea, Babbar had accused the AAP leaders of “harming the reputation of the BJP by blaming the party for the deletion of the names of voters from the electoral rolls in Delhi”.
