Haryanavi singer and dancer Sapna Chaudhary’s political outing appears to have more twists and turns than a tangled rope.
A day after the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar tweeted and welcomed her to the Congress party, Chaudhary refuted claims that she had joined the party and said that she was not campaigning for any party either.
In his tweet, Raj Babbar had also posted a photograph of Chaudhary with Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, saying, “We welcome Sapna Chaudhary to the Congress family.”

In an interaction with reporters on Sunday, Chaudhary said, “I have not joined the Congress party. The photograph with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is old. I am not going to campaign for any political party.”

Shortly after that, images of her filling up the Congress membership form as well as the form itself appeared on social media, shooting down her claims.
The form shows her photograph and is dated March 23, 2019 and also includes her signature.
UP Congress secretary Narendra Rathi was quoted by news agency ANI as saying on Sunday, “Sapna Chaudhary came and filled the membership form herself, her signature is on it. Her sister also joined the party yesterday, we have both of their forms.”

As the controversy raged on, BJP’s Amit Malviya jumped in saying that Sapna Chaudhary had claimed that the Congress forged her membership document.
In a tweet, he highlighted a part of the form which Sapna Chaudhary had reportedly signed during her induction into the party on Saturday.
The highlighted part of the form says in Hindi that the form is valid only for five years from 2011 to 2015 and can be obtained for a price of Rs 5 from the Congress office.

Look closely, the form released by Congress, which apparently carries her signature, is valid for a 5 year period between 2011-15 and is not a recent one! pic.twitter.com/OGOfZqvSFc
Speculation had it that Congress would field Sapna Chaudhary against BJP’s sitting MP from Mathura Hema Malini.
