ITBP officer killed, 2 jawans hurt in 2 explosions in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur
ITBP officer Rajendra Singh was killed and another personnel hurt in the first explosion in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district. The second blast that injured one jawan of the state armed police took place three hours later
BASTAR: An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) assistant sub-inspector was killed and two security personnel injured in two incidents of explosive device (IED) blasts set off by naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Monday.
The two injured jawans were airlifted to Raipur for treatment and their condition is said to be stable.
Police said the first incident took place at around 8.30am in the dense jungles between Dondribeda and Sonpur villages of the district in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region.
“A team of ITBP’s 53rd battalion was out on patrolling duty to ensure security to road construction works when they came in contact with the IED and a blast took place,” said inspector general of police, Bastar range, Sunderaj P.
“One assistant sub-inspector Rajendra Singh was killed in the blast, while head constable, Mahesh Bodro, received injuries in the blast. The injured jawan was shifted to Raipur for further treatment and combing operation of the area is going on”, the senior police officer said.
ASI Rajendra Singh was a resident of the Uttarakhand’s Tehri district. Bodra is from Maharashtra.
In the second incident, a constable of Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) Soyam Bheema suffered injuries in an IED blast.
Bheema was part of a road opening party (ROP) of the CAF and was patrolling near Amdai camp under Chotedonger police station when he came in contact with IED and the blast took place. Bheema was later airlifted to Raipur for better medical assistance and his condition is stable, said Sunderaj.
