Meghalaya Election Results 2023 highlights: CM Conrad Sangma's NPP won 26 seats, however fell short of majority. The BJP has extended support to Sangma's party to form a government in the state.

Meghalaya Election Results 2023 highlights: Meghalaya witnessed a hung assembly on Thursday with chief minister Conrad Sangma's party emerging as the single-largest party in the state with securing 26 seats out of the total 59, but fell short of a majority. Hours later, BJP - who secured only two seats - wrote a letter of support to NPP to form the next government in the state. 

The state went to polls on February 27 with nearly 77.9% of the electorate exercising their franchise. The vote counting exercise began at 8 am on Thursday for 59 assembly segments of the northeastern state.
