Meghalaya Election Results 2023 highlights: BJP submits letter of support to NPP

1. 3-tier security has been arranged with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and State Armed police keeping vigil

2. 383 total rounds of counting, with a maximum of nine rounds for the biggest assembly constituency Mawlai in East Khasi Hills district

3. Postal ballots are counted for the first 30 minutes followed by the polled votes in the EVM Control Units

4. Shillong has the maximum number of counting halls - 14, West Garo Hills District Counting Centre is the second-largest counting centre in the state

5. 27 counting observers and over 500 micro observers have been deployed for the process

NPP surges ahead with lead in 22 seats. While TMC and BJP are engaged in a close battle -  both ahead in 10 seats - Cong is trailing behind with 7 seats in lead.

Congress, UDP and BJP lead in 7 seats each while TMC has made a strong start in the state by currently leading in 9 seats. Meanwhile, NPP is leading in 19 seats .

Current trends show NPP ahead in 12 seats, BJP and TMC locked in a close battle by leading in 7 and 6 seats, respectively. Congress is leading 4 seats, while UDP is ahead in 2.

Early trends indicate a neck-to-neck fight as both NPP and TMC lead in 4 seats each

Former chief minister Mukul Sangma, who leads the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the state, is predicted to emerge as the second largest outfit in the polls, offering stiff competition to CM Conrad Sangma, whose NPP is seeking a second term.
