Lok Sabha elections 2019: Raes Ahmad of BSP files his nomination
Ahmad informed that party supremo Mayawati had directed him to work from Gurugram and focus on Mewat, which was in dire need of support. Ahmad also said that the party would work towards improving brotherhood and bridging gaps within the society.
Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) candidate Raes Ahmad on Saturday filed his nomination papers with returning officer Amit Khatri at the Mini Secretariat.
Ahmad, 58, hails from Budaun district in Uttar Pradesh and will be contesting for the Gurgaon Lok Sabha seat for the first time. He said overall development and creation of jobs would be important election issues for the party in the district. “Our focus will be on promoting inclusive development and creation of more jobs. Unemployment has been plaguing the region, and the ruling party has done anything to alleviate it,” he said.

Ahmad’s elder brother Abdul Malik had earlier contested on the Faridabad seat on a BSP ticket in the Lok Sabha elections of 2004. In 2014, BSP ranked behind the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress, Indian National Lok Dal(INLD), and the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP).
On Saturday, two other candidates filed their nomination. Sarwan Kumar from the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) filed his candidature. So did Virender, 58, as an independent candidate.
