Seeing India become independent was Netaji’s foremost aim: Daughter Pfaff
Parakram Diwas 2023: Netaji’s daughter Anita B Pfaff said that Netaji was one of the iconic leaders of India's independence movement.
Today India is celebrating the 126th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The day is celebrated as Parakram Diwas. On this occasion Netaji’s daughter, Anita B Pfaff, said Netaji was one of the iconic leaders of India's independence movement, and his foremost aim was to see India independent of the British Raj, news agency ANI said.

Pfaff further emphasised bringing back the mortal remains of Netaji to India. She said that it was very unfortunate that he could not live to see an independent India, but it would be a great substitute and respect to Netaji if his remains could return to his motherland.
Netaji went missing on August 18, 1945, after a plane crash in Taiwan. Two of three commissions that probed the accident say he died in the crash; the third claimed he survived.
To mark the occasion, prime minister Narendra Modi named 21 of the Andaman and Nicobar's largest unnamed islands after Param Vir Chakra awardees and also unveiled a model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji which will be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897, at his ancestral house of Janakinath Bhawan in Cuttack in Odisha. He played a significant role in India's freedom movement. He gave popular slogans like 'Delhi Chalo' and 'Tum mujhe khoon do, mai tumhe azadi doonga (You give me blood, I will give you freedom)'.s
