Sonam Wangchuk news LIVE: In a petition before the Delhi high court, Sonam Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali J Angmo said she has "lost faith" in Safdarjung Hospital and is seeking permission to shift the activist to a private hospital of her choice.

Angmo alleged that hospital authorities disclosed only "selective information" about Wangchuk's condition and that refusing to allow his transfer had prevented an "independent verification of his medical condition".

Expressing "dire concern" over her husband's health, she also questioned the "clandestine and completely opaque nature" of the medical intervention.

The petition further alleged that Wangchuk was forcibly removed from Jantar Mantar despite his vital parameters being stable, and claimed authorities took "colourable advantage" of the Delhi high court's July 16 order in the absence of any medical emergency.

Speaking to ANI, Gogoi said the manner in which Wangchuk was shifted to hospital while on hunger strike was "deeply concerning" and demanded his immediate release.

"The manner in which a person on a hunger strike was forcibly hospitalised, violating fundamental and constitutional rights, is deeply concerning. As a representative of the people of Assam and the North East, I demand that Sonam Wangchuk be released immediately," Gogoi said.

He also reiterated the protest's demand for Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.

Sonam Wangchuk news LIVE: Safdarjung Hospital on Sunday said activist Sonam Wangchuk is receiving the "required medical intervention" and remains under close monitoring by a multidisciplinary team of experts.

In its latest health bulletin, the hospital said Wangchuk's vital parameters are stable at present, but his blood parameters remain "marginally altered" due to the physiological stress and systemic effects of prolonged fasting, reported ANI.

"The treating teams of doctors from VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital and AIIMS, New Delhi, are of the considered opinion that sustained medical intervention and round-the-clock clinical monitoring are essential to promptly detect and manage any potential complications that may arise despite his currently stable condition," the hospital said.

Sonam Wangchuk news LIVE: Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali J Angmo, on Saturday said she had lost faith in Safdarjung Hospital and warned that the hospital authorities and the government would be responsible if anything happened to the activist.

In a statement, Angmo alleged that while the hospital informed the family that Wangchuk's potassium level had fallen to 2.9 and described it as life-threatening, the figure was not disclosed in its public health bulletin. She further claimed that an independent laboratory test showed the potassium level at 3.5, which she said was within the normal range.

Angmo also alleged that repeated requests to discharge Wangchuk or shift him to a private hospital had been denied. Claiming that heavy police deployment had effectively restricted the family's movement, she described the situation as "illegal detention."

She said she had approached the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent hearing and permission to move Wangchuk to a hospital of the family's choice before his condition worsens. “If anything happens to Sonam, the hospital authorities and the government must bear full responsibility,” she said.

Sonam Wangchuk hospitalised LIVE: A message shared by Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday urged supporters to make Sunday's "March to Parliament" a success, describing it as "India's 2nd Freedom Movement."

In the message sent through his wife, Gitanjali, Wangchuk called for a movement for a "fear-free India" and an "injustice-free India," citing issues such as paper leaks and what he described as his "illegal detention."

“India’s 2nd FREEDOM MOVEMENT. March to the Parliament. Please make it a big success,” the message read.

The note was signed off as being sent “from my illegal detention at Safdarjung.”

Police said more than 100 personnel and Rapid Action Force units have already been deployed around Jantar Mantar, with around 200 personnel expected to remain on duty through the weekend.

Referring to the police, Dipke said that “thieves” would come quietly “like they did yesterday” and try to disrupt the agitation. “We have to be alert,” he told protesters.

In a post on X, Angmo said the hospital reported Wangchuk's potassium level at 2.9, down from 4.3 a day earlier. She alleged that authorities were neither permitting him to be taken to another lab for testing nor providing a blood sample for independent verification.

“This lack of transparency is making us suspicious,” she said, adding that the family has sought Wangchuk's immediate discharge and has been waiting for the hospital's response.

Referring to Wangchuk's hospitalisation and police intervention, Paswan said both the government and the judiciary were concerned about the activist's well-being. “If the Delhi Police had to intervene, it was because no one would want the country to lose a personality like Sonam Wangchuk,” he said.

Sonam Wangchuk hospitalised LIVE: Commenting on activist Sonam Wangchuk's health, Dr Suranjit Chatterjee, Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, said the medical report indicating "compensated metabolic acidosis" suggests that Wangchuk's body is being affected by dehydration but is still attempting to correct the imbalance.

"The use of the term 'compensated' implies that the body is still fighting the condition. Compensation occurs only when the body is actively trying to restore the imbalance," Chatterjee told news agency ANI.

He warned that if the condition progresses to a "decompensated" state, it could become extremely dangerous, potentially leading to electrolyte imbalances, loss of consciousness, and liver or kidney dysfunction. Stressing the need for immediate medical intervention, the doctor said IV fluids and nutritional support are essential at this stage to prevent irreversible damage. "Beyond a certain point, the situation could become critical for the patient," he added.
