Warm Sunday morning in Delhi, but chances of thunderstorm later on
The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi was 30.6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 42 degrees Celsius.
Delhi witnessed a warm Sunday morning with the minimum temperature recorded at 30.6 degrees Celsius, though the Met office predicted a partly cloudy day later on, with chances of dust/thunderstorm.
Sunday’s minimum temperature was five notches above the season’s average, the Met office said. “It was the hottest morning of the season,” an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official told IANS.
The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 42 degrees Celsius. The humidity at 8.30 am was 60%.
Saturday’s maximum temperature settled at 42.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average.
On Saturday, the IMD had predicted thunderstorm, accompanied by squall, in Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh in the next two days.
If the IMD predictions materialise, the temperature would cool down a bit in the national capital.
The IMD said thunderstorm and its subsequent effects on plains in north India is due to a new western disturbance from Sunday. Western disturbance originates in the Mediterranean Sea that brings sudden rains to northwestern parts of India.
The department, however, said heat wave conditions will prevail in parts of Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region.
