10 killed, 100 hurt in Bangladesh gunfight

Police said they raided an area in Sujanagar area following a tip off when the bandits hiding there opened fire triggering fierce gunfight.

At least 10 bandits were killed and 100 others injured in a fierce gunfight with police in western Bangladesh on Thursday.

Police said they raided an area in Pabna district's Sujanagar area following a tip off when the bandits hiding there opened fire triggering the fierce gunfight.

The fight left at least 10 bandits killed and 100 others injured, police said. Policemen were also among the injured, who were admitted to hospitals.

Fifty people were also arrested following the gunfight.

Thousands of residents rejoiced the police action, witnesses said.
