6 family members killed in house collapse in Jammu

According to officials only one member of the family could be rescued alive from under the debris.

Six members of a family, including two women and two children, were killed when their house collapsed following heavy rains in a village in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said in Jammu.

The house gave way early on Saturday morning after overnight heavy rains in Kunthal village in Bani area of the district, they said adding only one member of the family could be rescued alive from under the debris.

Rescue teams rushed to the spot and pulled out Sheelo Devi even as other members of the family were found dead, they added. The dead were identified as Dharam Chand and his wife Chinto Devi, their son Lakh Raj and his wife Rano Devi and their two children in the age group of two to six years.
