"The cabinet expansion would take place very soon, most probably after the Durga puja," Koda said on Saturday during his maiden visit to his native village Patahatu in West Singhbhum district after becoming the chief minister.
To a query whether he would join any political party, Koda, an Independent MLA, said that he currently did not have any such plan nor did he want to form a party.
"I would rather prefer to serve the people as an independent than join any political party," he said.
Improvement of roads was a top priority of the UPA government in the state, he said, adding repairing work on the Hatgamariah-Baraiburu road, the lifeline of Jharkhand's economy in West Singhbhum district, would start in the next couple of months.
Koda said the state government would also soon improve condition of all the roads linking the state capital.
Addressing a gathering at Chakradharpur, Koda also announced that an over-bridge would be constructed on the Chakradharpur railway crossing and construction work of the bridge over river Sanjay would begin soon.
