Clooney starrer Up In The Air bags six Golden Globe nominations

George Clooney starrer comedy-drama Up In The Air has been nominated in the best motion picture, best actor for Clooney, best actress in a supporting role for Farmiga and Kendrick each, best director for Reitman and best screenplay categories, said the official website of the awards.

George Clooney starrer comedy-drama Up In The Air has received six nominations at the upcoming 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Directed by Jason Reitman, it is a big-screen adaptation of the 2001 writer Walter Kiern's novel by the same name. Also starring Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick in the lead, Up In The Air revolves around a corporate downsizer in his travels and follows his isolated life and philosophies, along with the people that he meets along the way.

It has been nominated in the best motion picture, best actor for Clooney, best actress in a supporting role for Farmiga and Kendrick each, best director for Reitman and best screenplay categories, said the official website of the awards.

It was released across limited territories on Dec 4.

Following Up In The Air in the nominations is Rob Marshall's romantic musical Nine with five nods and James Cameron's Avatar and "Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds with four nominations each.

A precursor to the Academy Awards, the event, organised by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), will be held Jan 17 at Beverly Hills, California.
