She shot off another letter to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), demanding a CBI inquiry into Friday’s train accident at Jhargram, West Bengal.

The initial demand had been shot down by the West Bengal government.

Disagreeing with Home Minister P. Chidambaram who’d talked of the “needle of suspicion” pointing to the Maoists, Banerjee said, “The CBI will bring out the real truth.” Quizzed further, she said, “Unless the investigations are over, I cannot say anything. I am not an astrologer.”

Banerjee, however, did attend the UPA’s ‘one-year report card’ function, but missed the evening flight to Kolkata. She will now return to her home state on Wednesday morning.
