Earnings of Nagpur division of Central Railway up

The Nagpur division of the Central Railway has earned Rs 1,332.66 crore till the end of February in the current fiscal. The earnings include Rs 200.81 crore from passenger traffic and Rs 1,110.36 crore from freight.

The Nagpur division of the Central Railway has earned Rs 1,332.66 crore till the end of February in the current fiscal.

The earnings include Rs 200.81 crore from passenger traffic and Rs 1,110.36 crore from freight.

Passenger earnings were 11 per cent higher than in the previous year and freight revenue was seven per cent more than in the corresponding period last year, a top Central Railway official said.

It has also earned Rs 480.08 lakh from the surprise ticket checking drive, a jump of 19 per cent, besides Rs 139.71 lakh from commercial advertisements, a rise of 12 per cent.

Coal loading is an important factor for the Nagpur division and 43 rakes of coal were dispatched in February alone. This has fetched Rs 14.34 crore from its Majri siding.
