Help Miss India win World crown!
Indians are hoping Sindhura Gadde would repeat history last created by Priyanka Chopra in 2000.india Updated: Dec 10, 2005 10:03 IST
Will she or will she not? This is the million dollar question that will be answered on December 10, 2005. Indians are hoping thatSindhura Gadde, India's representative at this year's Miss World pageant to be held in China, would repeat history last created by Priyanka Chopra in the year 2000.
The last five years have been really dry for the country. Post-Priyanka Chopra, the fifth Indian to don the Miss-World title in 2000, there has not been a single beauty who could bring home the coveted crown. What promised to be a beauty boom in the magical 90s has gone bust.
From 1960s to 2000, five winsome beauties brought the dazzling Miss World crown to India. They made the world sit up and take notice of their charm, beauty and intelligence. Let's take a look at the five winners who conquered the World:
1966 - Reita Faria
1997 - Diana Hayden
1999 - Yukta Mookhey
2000 - Priyanka Chopra
So what is it that went wrong? Some of the reasons could be:
1. BAD ATTITUDE: Lure of films that made beauty queens casual
2. BAD TRAINING: Problems with selection and training process
3. BAD JUDGEMENT: Were the judges guided by factors other than merit?
4. BAD LUCK: You win some, you lose some!
