A 27-year-old woman died after her husband and his paramour allegedly poured kerosene over her and set her on fire.
A 27-year-old woman died after her husband and his paramour allegedly poured kerosene over her and set her on fire.
Police have arrested Ashok Yadav (34) and Dimpy Yadav for the murder of Seema Yadav (27), a resident of Shahpur Bamheta village near Ghaziabad. Seema was married to Yadav for 12 years.
“Seema was unable to bear a child. Her husband had an illicit affair with a woman named Dimpy Yadav and was living with her,” said the police.
The incident took place on Friday afternoon when Seema went to their house at Mukesh Colony and the three of them had an altercation.
“They poured kerosene over Seema and set her afire in a room,” said Phool Kunwar, an eyewitness and area’s Municipal Councillor.
The woman was immediately rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Sukhpal Yadav, the victim's brother, claimed that his sister was tortured by her husband as she could not bear any children even after 12 years of marriage.
While the husband and his lover said that the woman committed suicide, the police arrested them under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
