Despite the numerous controversies that fiancé Shoaib Malik is currently embroiled in, tennis star Sania Mirza still determined to marry the cricketer. In spite of Ayesha Siddiqui’s allegations, Sania says she will go ahead with their plans, as she “trusts him”. However, according to many young girls in Delhi, if they were in Sania’s shoes, they wouldn’t think of marrying Shoaib!

Says Nishita Baderia, an architect, “I wouldn’t marry someone who so controversial. The fact that his mother has so many issues about my game and the way I dress would bolster my decision about not marrying him too.”

Agreeing with Nishita, marketing executive Kiran Mahi adds, “I would not go ahead because the fact that I might be his second wife would bother me.”

Notwithstanding these reservations, there are some young girls who wouldn’t mind tying the knot with Shoaib, had they been in Sania’s place. “If the facts are that he is not married, and if he has already taken me into confidence, then of course I’ll marry the man I love,” says 25-year-old Ruchika Gupta.

Radio jockey Saima Iqbal adds, “I am a very emotional person and I would still listen to my heart, irrespective of any number of controversies. Though I would want to clear things up before I take the plunge.”

A voice of dissent is writer Tamanna Shah’s, who feels, “There are so many controversies surrounding Shoaib Malik that it’s scary to be with him. I think he should just be left alone!”
