The online admission process through the portal has been launched for 11 colleges in Kashmir on a pilot basis.

Speaking on the occasion, Akhtar said the online admission process was overdue. "It will not only help streamline the admission process, but also make it easier and hassle free," he added.

The government is planning to extend the facility to other colleges in the state. "The online facility will aid in developing a database of the students and will also facilitate in regulating the admission in more transparent manner," the minister added.

The minister said the system will be further fine-tuned in the next session so that admissions are made strictly as per cut-off merit.

"It will also help the students to get to know about lesser known colleges and the courses available in them," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Amar Singh College principal Zahoor Ahmad Chatt presented a brief overview of the online admission portal system.
