JMM General Secretary Durga Soren was on Sunday suspended from the party for six years on disciplinary ground, a senior party leader said.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of party leaders with the consent of JMM supremo Sibu Soren, who is Durga's father, Champai Soren, national vice-president of JMM, said in Jamshedpur.
Champai Soren, who was the leader of JMM Legislative Party in the Jharkhand assembly, said the action was taken against Durga for filing nomination papers against the UPA official candidate, Furkan Ansari from Godda parliamentary constituency for the forthcoming election.
JMM, a constituent of UPA, left the Godda seat for Congress as part of seat-sharing agreement in Jharkhand.
