The steel baron Lakshmi Mittal's daughter's wedding took place in Paris and the reception in Versailles, which was by itself the most extravagant event, the like of which was never held in the Palace ever. However, the venue for the wedding of Lord Paul's son Angad, 34, with Michelle Bonn, a media lawyer was London Zoo.

Years ago Lord Paul donated a large amount of money to create a corner in the zoo that is named after his late daughter Ambika. He also holds every year a meet there to remember her. It can be said that it was sentiment that guided the choice of the venue.

Angad was quoted saying that his marriage was low-key compared to Vanisha's £30 million wedding in Paris. Guests to the event were restricted to family and close friends that included wife Sarah of Chancellor Gordon Brown, who is in reality like a family member of the Pauls.

The wedding was performed according to both Hindu and Jewish rites, as Bonn is Jewish.
