Maharashtra: Woman commits suicide as husband ‘forced’ her to eat meat

A woman allegedly committed suicide in the Palghar district of Maharashtra after her husband forced her to meat, police said on Tuesday.

Sub-inspector SB Kamble of Nala Sopara police station identified the deceased woman as Pooja Lukam (22).

Her husband, Dharmesh Lukam (26), often forced her to cook non-vegetarian food and eat it against her wishes, Kamble said.

Fed up, the woman hanged herself from the ceiling of the house on Monday.

Police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against the husband, he said.
